Article in Good Woodworking - September 2014
We have just received a great write up in the Good woodworking magazine. Appearing in the centrefold, with a "Best of the Rest" sticker under a title of "Editor's Choice". We are of course very proud of all our students efforts, and once again would like to congratulate them on their amazing work. With some of them still only half way through their time with us we are keen to see what they do next!
" A stand stretched along a corridor that you might access on the way to the toilets or the press office is hardly the optimum location if you want to showcase your talents at the UK's biggest and most important show for graduate design students, New Designers at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London. But the students who have been learning to make top-end bespoke furniture on Williams and Cleal's 40 week course could have displayed their wares in the middle of a half-closed 1970's shopping precinct and still be a talking point. Unlike most univerisites and colleges where you can identify student output by the overall style, all the pieces showed originality and were true to the aspirations of their makers, with work ranging from an ingenious extending table to an intricately veneered one, from a chair with a knitted seat to a precisely engineered Chief's Chair. Each maker should consider him or herself to be a winner." Andrea Hargreaves
