Commissioning

Whether you are looking for a family heirloom, a striking centre piece for your drawing room, or a new kitchen interior the process is the same. Williams and Cleal design and create luxurious, distinctive and functional pieces which are an investment for the future.

The Initial Consultation

The commissioning process is an adventure for everyone involved, ensuring the creation of something beautiful, exclusive and very personal. Working closely with our clients enables us to translate your ideas and tastes to guarantee a rewarding experience.

We prefer to start by visiting you in the place where the piece will be located or the interior fitted. Here we will be able to consider the aesthetics, function of the piece, size options and choice of materials. We will bring along our portfolio and wood samples and can at this point discuss approximate budgets and delivery dates. We can work with you directly or if you prefer through your architect or interior designer.

Design

Once we have enough information we will start the design process by coming back to you within the agreed timeframe with initial design ideas. We will leave you to consider the drawings at your convenience before coming back to discuss any modifications or additions you wish to include. A final detailed proposal will then be produced, including your final quotation and delivery date. Once approved a copy of the final drawings will be sent to you and a copy given to our workshop to be used to progress your commission.

Creation

Our skilled craftsmen will begin the process of sourcing the agreed materials and selecting the very timber for the project. We will start to create the piece in our workshop during which time you are very welcome to visit and view the project as it evolves. The designer will oversee the production which, for a one off piece, is approximately three months from approval of the proposal.

Delivery

As so much time and passion has been spent creating your individual piece, the designer or one of the craftsmen will be on site during the duration of the fitting to ensure our high quality standards of installation are upheld.
